Larissa - Called to train!!

Hola como estan???

I got the call super late but Lastnight President Ashton called me to train:D I am a whole mess of emotions but mostly I am just so very humbled to be able to help the Lord with anything that he might need and to help another missionary. I am very sad to be losing la Hermana Scott though. I will miss her terebly. But I will do what the Lord wants and If this is his will then I will do it.

This week was the hottest it has been since I have been here. I bleive it hit 115 plus 80 somthing humidity..  know that the lord blesses us because I think if I were here for any other reason I would have melted already. haha but it is fun I still love being in a bike area and being able to talk to so many people. We found this wonderful family this week and we are so excited to go back and teach them.
We had a miracle this week in our ward. We had over 200 people in sacrament meeting when normally we only have 146. We have seen so many blessings and miracles and I could not be more grateful for the Lords hand in this work. I love being a part of this work and being a tool in the Lords hand. This Gospel is so true and I encourage any of you that dont know that for assurity to ask your father in Heaven and to search the scriptures and he will reveal it unto you that this really is his restored Gospel and that we have all the keys to salvation and can recieve all these blessings based on our Obedience.

This week repentence has been a big subject that we have been talking to alot of people about.I have become more and more greatful for the savior everyday of my mission especially for the opportunity to repent. I Love this gospel and the ability we have to be clean from all our wrongs that God remembereth them no more.
I love you all thank for all your love and support.

Jenessa - Week 44 - Can't beat the Georgia HEAT!!

Hi Ya'll-

Todays email is going to be shorter. We are going to the Okefenokee Swamp today! Should be exciting. Hope to see some wild alligators :-) We shall see.

This week was incredible and incredibly hot, and I sweat a lot, I am pretty sure my companion had to mop me up and bring me home each night in a bucket. I am glad that is over though, It was supposed to be the hottest week of the year here in Georgia. Hopefully that holds true and from here on out we can stay below 105!!

Despite the heat though, we went forward and had so many miracles. We found SEVEN new investigators this week and one of them is this mother of 4, Christine! She was so very interested in what we had to share. She said that she was 30 and had never been baptized. She just had too many questions about/for God! We were able to share our message about the Restoration and the Book of Mormon with her and she almost took the Book of Mormon right out of my hands, she wanted it! She said that she would read and would love to start sending her children to our church, even when she couldn't go. WOW! Its been a while since I have had someone listen so intently and you could tell that her heart and soul were hungering for the truth that we were giving her!

I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing these people are! I know that there are amazing people everywhere, but WOW! I am just blown away by the Job like experiences some of the people we have met with this week have gone through. It just blows my mind and really goes to show me that there is always someone out there who has it worse then you and that there are SOOOO many things to be grateful for!

My companion is incredible. I just can't even fully explain it. Its crazy how much alike we are and how much that is teaching me. I love her with all my heart and am so grateful that i have this opportunity to serve with her. She just astounds me everyday with the things she testifies of and how powerful her teaching is. She definitely follows the Spirit and really loves this work! I am so blessed to get to serve with the wonderful Sister Boucher!

We had Zone Conference this week and it was phenomenal. I love Zone conference and I cannot believe that was my last one! AHHHH! Time is going by way way fast, but I love it! Life is exciting and change is inevitable, so i am embracing it! :-) A lot of what was talked about was Christ-like attributes and developing those. Sister Craig asked us "if our words, actions, and countenance showed everyone that we were a follower of Jesus CHrist??" I would pose that to each of you. Do your words, actions, and very countenance display to the world and show forth and example to all those around you that you are a follower of Jesus Christ?? Can people feel that and know that about you, without a doubt??

I have a testimony and know that my Savior lives. He has been my strength and my song this week. He has helped me through my inner battles and even helped me through some physical struggles this week. It is incredible how much strength I gain from my Savior and His love that I feel so abundantly in my life. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and it indeed testifies of JEsus Christ. I feel of His love as I read and I find answers to countless question, some questions that I didn't even know that I had. I know that the Lord wants to bless us with knowledge and success far beyond what we can even comprehend. I know that more and more blessings flow into our lives the more we are obedient. Obedience is key, it is the first law of Heaven and as we follow this law, we will find great joy and satisfaction in life and in the eternal world to come! I know that we can all develop and become who God intends for us to become as we let go of what we want and let God take us and transform us and he will. We did not come here to be a quaint little cottage in the country, He wants to build us to be a mansion. He wants us to do bigger and better things everyday. He wants us to find joy and allow that joy to permeate into the lives of all those around us as we share our light! I know that families can be together forever. I am so grateful for the temple and wonderful ordinances that are performed there by the Priesthood that has been restored. I am so grateful for the Priesthood and its power and influence in my life! I am especially grateful for WORTHY Priesthood holders in my life, this week I was in a need of a blessing and it was amazing to be able to call on some elders to give me the healing, comforting, and counseling blessing that I received from them, but really it was all from the Lord. They were the worthy vessels that allowed me to feel of the Lord strength and power through them! I know that the Gospel has been restored. I know it and I will NEVER deny it! I know that the Holy Ghost is one of the greatest gifts God has given man and we should all seek to have His Spirit with us more abundantly each day! I am so grateful for all that I have, all that I know, and all that I am becoming through my Savior, Jesus Christ. I FOLLOW HIM, and I hope it can ALWAYS be written on my countenance, heard in my words, and seen in my actions that I am a follower of Him! I say all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen!

Have a wonderful week Ya'll

Ok....Now for my letter....

I am absolutely loving Waycross and the people up here! It is a completely different world up here! Time is flying by oh so fast with everything that is going on, getting to know the area, completeing assignment from the leaders of the ward, and then having to prepare a talk, a musical number, and a relief society lesson for church this past Sunday!! HAHA! Yup, ALL IN ONE WEEK!! They didn't waist any time getting us acquainted with the ward. It was really funny. We got asked to speak in sacrament meeting during stake conference last week, by Brother Mathis, who is now President Mathis. When he asked us it made me laugh because I have now spoken the very FIRST sacrament meeting I have attended of every area I have been in!! HAHA! Just great!! There seems to be lots of patterns in my mission...anyways.... Then a few days later (without knowing we were already speaking) the ward music director called us and asked us to do a musical number, then later on that same day we got a call from the relief society president telling us that the sister who was supposed to teach was sick and she was wondering if we could fill in. HAHAHA!! And, being good Sister Missionaries, we dont say No to doing service! It was quite the surprise to everyone that we were doing so much, but it gave us a wonderful opportunity to get to know the ward quickly and for them to get to know us!! LOVE THEM SO MUCH ALREADY!!

I have felt very inadequate and very unworthy since becoming a trainer....its quite a humbling experience. Its been a struggle, with myself more then anything else, but its been a good struggle. The Lord has taught me a lot as I have been  on  my knees in prayer, probably more then I have ever been my whole mission, pleading for guidance, understanding, and peace! I was having a particularly hard day and I told the Lord, to help me feel of His love. I told Him I would do whatever he prompted me to do, I just needed to see a miracle. And guess what.....about a half hour later when we went to contact a potential investigator, I had this impression to knock on this house before we went back to our car. I felt the prompting and I remember saying, "Ok Lord, I will do it," as I walked up the driveway of the potential we were trying to see. The potential wasn't home, thank goodness, because we went to the house I felt prompted to knock and TJ walked out. He had been to our church before has a teenager and he said it was different, but no one had ever really explained anything to him. We talked to him about the Book of Mormon and asked if he would read and pray about it. He said YES!! We asked if he would be baptized and he said "You never know." (not exactly a yes, but I'll take it). We were able to set up a return appointment and connect with him on facebook!! It was a miracle. I got in the car and just cried! GOD LOVES US SO MUCH!!! He answers our prayers, if we will just follow His guidance He will lead our feet, our words, and our hearts to where they need to be! :-) Its miraculous!!

Sister Boucher is doing amazing! She just blows me out of the water every single day with the things that come out of her mouth, it is incredible! She is so powerful! She has some amazing things to say. You should have heard her talk this past sunday and her incredible testimony and things she shares at the doors. Its very insightful and is making me think about how i do missionary work a little different. I guess after being out so long, you start doing some of the same things over and over again, I like the "newness" that she brings to every situation that we are in. I turn things over to her and the things that come out of her mouth work, but are just so different from me, but its wonderful! I love it! I love something that she told to me this past week, as we talked about her goals for her mission. She said that her goal for her entire mission is to go from being a Missionary to being a servant to the Lord. To really become that true disciple that can really be a tool in the Lords hands as his servant. That was pretty powerful to me! What an amazing goal to have from the VERY BEGINNING of her mission. She is so far "ahead of the game," so to speak. Its incredible! I am so blessed to have this opportunity to be her companion and learn from her amazing example!!

We had an incredible Golden Hour on Monday. It was wonderful and a great experience for both of us!! We met this lady named Joanne, who had always wondered about the Mormons, she took a Book of Mormon and because of her hectic schedule we couldn't set up a solid return appointment, but she wanted us to come back and answer her questions later on after she has had some time to read from the Book of Mormon. The next lady we came to had also heard of us, she even already had a Book of Mormon, which she got from some Elders when she lived in Virginia. She was very open with us and we are having lunch with her this coming Saturday (it was supposed to be last saturday, but she was sick, so she called and rescheduled). We are so excited for the future we have here in Waycross. We are going to see miracles and baptisms coming out of the woodwork here in Blackshear and Waycross. I love it!!

An amazing Aha Moment that I had this week while reading in Ether 12. In verse 2 it talks about how Coriantumr could "not be restrained because of the Spirit of the Lord which was in Him."  Isn't that incredible. Because of the Spirit that filled Coriantumr, he could not be held back....the Spirit just powered through him to do the work, because he was so FILLED with the spirit.  I feel like i have felt this feeling a couple times on my mission thus far, oh what a glorious experience it has been. I want that experience all the time. I then cross referenced Jeremiah 20:9 to that scritpure and it talks about how Jeremiah wasn't going to speak the name of the Lord anymore because of the reproach of others BUT he could not because "His (Gods) word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forebearing, and I could not stay." My "aha" moment came when I read this because I feel like I have been searching with how to be this way, how to be so filled with the Spirit that my physical self cannot stand in the way of what the Spirit desire to do, to share the gospel. Its all in the word of the Lord!! As we truly feast upon the words of Christ, and develop that relationship with Him through reading his word, his words will fill us up. His word will fill our heart as a burning fire shut up and we will be more weary from forebearing then we will by sharing, because of the burning desire that will be within us to drive us forward. That was a wonderful and calming aha moment i had yesterday...just wanted to share! I LOVE THE BOOK OF MORMON!!

I am so grateful to be a missionary right now, at this time. The Lord truly does know exactly what we need and when we need it. I know that i was supposed to be out her back in 2012 and i was supposed to go home when I did and I am supposed to be out here right now! Its been quite the exciting.....almost....TWO AND A HALF YEARS!! How crazy is that?? Time just goes by so fast! But I know that everything happens in the Lords timing and He really does have our best interests at heart. I know that He lives and He loves us so very very much!  I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon and for all the scriptures! I know that they speak the word of God. I know that as we read from them we will come to know our Heavenly Father and our Savior more intimately and be able to have their presence more abundantly in our lives. I know that MIRACLES are real, and then happen everyday. I know that by faith ALL things are possible! I know that the Gospel has been restored in its fullness. I am so grateful to not have any missing pieces. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and so is our current prophet Thomas S. Monson. I know that as we follow the council of the brethren we will not be lead a stray. I know that I am a Daughter of God and am of infinite worth. I know that God loves ALL His children and He desires us all to return to Him. I know this and write all these things in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen!

Love ya'll

Have a fantastic Week!

Jenessa Week 42 - I LOVE THE COUNTRY

Hey Ya'll -

Wow! I LOVE THE COUNTRY!! I forgot how much I absolutely love the country. And did i mention how much I love the country??! Oh wow! Its just a blessing to be able to work out here in Waycross, GA, with some of the most amazing people I have ever met. I am telling you, there is not a nicer bunch of people on this planet. Its amazing. The people out here in Waycross are so nice! Every person we have met so far is just down to earth, kind and just radiate love! Its a marvelous thing to experience.

Funny thing about where I live.....I was driving to a members home when I suddenly I realized that we had turned onto "Midway Church Road"....then a mile or so down the road there was a "Midway Baptist Church".....then whats even BETTER.....is then we came across an elementary school and it said "Midway Elementary School." :-) It made me feel right at home! I will be going back to take a picture with that soon! :-) I thought it was pretty great! This is the best area ever to finish off my mission!! I love it!

My companion Sister Boucher is incredible! She has come out here on FIRE and ready to share the gospel. I am the luckiest trainer ever. She has just helped fan the flames of my fire as a missionary, that i didn't even realize had gone down. I am so grateful for her and her incredible example. She is the youngest of 9, coming from a blended family: kind of a yours, mine, and ours deal. :-) She is 21 and absolutely amazing! I love her so much! We are going to learn so much from one another and we are going to baptize all 12 people out here in Waycross :-)

This week was just a whirlwind of getting settled and trying to get to know the area and the ward. We have set some wonderful goals and feel very confident in the plans that we have prayerfully created so that we can accomplish our goals here in the Waycross area! Sister Boucher is going to experience some mighty miracles!!!

Sister Boucher and I are two very lucky Sisters, after only being here 3 days we had the opportunity to go to Kingsland Stake Conference, and they were calling a new stake presidency and guess who was here?? Elder D. Todd Christoferson and Elder Larry Kacher (from Midway!) :-) It was such a neat experience! We were able to go to both the Saturday evening and the Sunday session and let me tell you, what a life changing meeting that was for me! i have never had so much personal revelation come to me in one meeting then i did there. The Spirit just filled my heart almost to bursting. I was a wreck sitting up in the choir seats listening to this apostle of God, and all the other wonderful speakers just speak words that range true to my heart and helped me to see some "bigger picture" things that I had been missing. I love the Lord!

I am so grateful for the knowledge that i have that there are living, breathing Apostles of the Lord here on the earth! I am know that they are called of God. I know that God speaks through them. I know that he works through them to guide us in these last days as we prepare for the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ once again! I am so grateful that EVERY person, including myself, can gain this witness! I know that this is true! I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, as I can hear Gods voice speaking to me every time I open its pages. I LOVE HIS VOICE!! I know that God lives. I know that He loves us. I know that He sent His only begotten Son to die for us, that we might live again! I know that He has a plan for us, and that as we follow Him and keep His commandment, we will find more joy and knowledge then we could ever imagine. I know that these things are true and say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

Wish I had more time to write, but I gotta run!

Love ya'll

Travis Letter.......

Haha so once the letters make it to you, you will get a better understanding. But I love you so much! You guys are fantastic and I'm so proud of your choices! I'm honored to follow in your footsteps and know that I always look up to you! I use your life as everyday example of someone who's life not only changed by the gospel, but changed other peoples lives as well! I really do miss you and yes I realized the mission is hard and will just become harder and harder the more I bless other peoples lives. I know that a mission has changed me, but not to the extent I want. GOD wants us to become better and knows I have problems that can't be solved quickly.....I realized I have been a very impatient person and that is my number one thing I am learning here hahahaha! You know me! But I want you to know I'm done turning my back on everything. I realized my laziness and own disregard of the important things in life and will do all I can to get on track! I will give up anything to know the lords happiness that he is willing to give me. I hope I am not babbling but eh I'm keeping a journal now...I finally decided its worth it.
Story time....so a man names Willy white is in our ward! I've never met someone who loves the gospel more then this man. He is a new convert of about 2 years but He is pretty old and has been going through cancer for almost 20+ years! He gave up everything( he was quote wealthy) to move here to be with his son and daughter! They ended up moving leaving him stranded and just over and over bad luck had been hitting him left and right....he has a motor home and that's it. His family has pretty much left him and miles to far away to stay adequately in contact. Yet this man always is looking to help people. He is the first to volunteer to help for any service or blessings he can give, he never missed a day of tithing, oh and did u mention he was a sailor in the navy! He does have a temper but rarely shows it and I have been so touched with this man. He has to walk to places because he didn't have enough money for a car. But he will do anything to bless others and use his priesthood and I am so thankful for that! It almost makes me cry to see him still coming in the same pair of cloths every week with a smile on his face!
I hope to hear more from you more either letter or email(email is easier for both of us haha) but tell me a story or example you have anything crazy, what have you planned for after? Did you guys find yourselves out here? And
Sat is a question I really need answered as I am very frustrated with a situation I'm going through personally ......how do you get a change of heart and have the faith to see miracles of change?? If you can just tell me...that's my biggest struggle, I'm fighting an addiction I didn't even realize I had badly! And out here is a little hard. Please know that you can tell me the struggles you are having too. I don't like being blinded and it will not make me homesick or depressed. I prayed for you every single day and still do! also nothing short of the world ending can pull me off my mission,There is no place I would rather be!

I'm getting transferred to Waycross, GEORGIA and I am training, so
that means I am also whitewashing the area once again! So great! Got
some adventures ahead. Going to go from the city to the country!
Should be great!

Today's letter is going to be short because I need to get some things done.

We had many miracles in our area this week, even though the first part
of the week was taken up with MLC and zone meeting, my last zone
meeting that I got to train at. Such a privileged. I had the
opportunity to do a training on Prayer!! It couldn't have asked for
anything better to train on for my last training as a Sister Training
Leader.....since my whole mission has revolved around learning about
prayer. It was so powerful. I would recommend that everyone read and
reread Elder Scotts address "The Supernal Gift of Pray" -April 2007
Conference

So I think I told you last week that Terry tried to drop us, but after
some spiritual nudges she didn't. We taught her this week one of the
BEST lessons Sister Blotter and i have ever taught together, because
it was all BY THE SPIRIT!!! It was incredible and full of so many
inspired questions, including the one Sister Craig helped us out with.
We taught Terry about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and focused most on
the Holy Ghost and having that after baptism and how the Holy Spirit
speaks to us, and that through church we can feel and know the Holy
Ghost....that is why our Church services are the way they are.
Note....Terry really likes the get up and sing praises, say AMEN, and
Hallelujah, playing the drums, etc....feeling more adrenaline then
actual spirit (this is why she has been struggling with coming to our
church). So anyways.....we had this beautiful lesson and as we were
talking about Church we shared that amazing question from Sister
Craig, "If the Savior were to come into a meeting, what would that
meeting feel like??" It was so powerful, the Spirit was so strong!!
And it didn't even take any encouragement on our part for her to have
a great desire to come to church this past sunday. She couldn't make
it because her friend was in the hospital, but she still has a great
desire to come and I know that The Lord is working on her and bringing
her closer and closer to being baptized! Its all in His timing (as
much as i wanted to be here to baptize her), its better that is not in
my timing.

Absolute miracle with this girl that came to church this past week.
She is incredible. She is 20 years old. The Sisters, Sister Anderson
and Johnson, found her last night and invited her to church and she
came. Then.....she got up and bore her "testimony"....she basically
told her story. She was raised by her mom who was Pagan and worshipped
Satan. She went through all different types of abuse and then moved
out with her boyfriend at 17, ended up doing something stupid and
ended up in jail for two years. She has been out of jail for over a
year now, but while she was in jail she came to know God and Jesus
Christ. She said that around 14 months, she had not been reaching out
to God or even trying to go to church while in jail, but one day it
was as clear as day and she said she will never be able to mistake the
fact that in his own way, specifically for her, he "came" to her. He
let her know that he was there and very aware of her and that is when
she started looking for Christ and a church. She has gone church
hopping for a while, trying to find a place where she could feel "at
home," where people wouldn't judge here. She has made a complete turn
around with her life and is so amazing! You should have felt the
spirit in the room! She has not had a "church home" for over a month
and has been praying to be lead in the right direction and then the
Sister knocked on her door last night and it was a sign. She is
incredible and hopes to make this her permanent church home!!! How
amazing is that! Miracles happen everyday!! :-)

Ok. So there is so much more that I could tell you about this week,
but time is running short today, so I will just send some pictures and
then next week i will tell ya'll about the wonderful adventures I will
have already had in Waycross, GA with my greenie :-)

Love ya'll so much! You are so great!
Have a wonderful week!

Larissa - Sicky Vicky. (dont worry not me)

Dear fellow Hijos de Dios,

How is everyone, for the Heckel family I hope you all had a wonderful family reunion and you will be able to recover quickly from the fun festivities:) I love and miss you all and hope all is going amazing with you all.

This week has been really fun and I have had some really awesome miracles and learning experiences.
Lesson 1. If you go to the Zoo without a water bottle in Houston... You will get dehydrated... and It wont feel good. - for P-day we decided to visit the Houston zoo:) which was super cool, I was happy to find out that other animals exist besides dogs and Cats and little birds. haha I was so excited. I was like a little kid, haha I wanted to poke a lot of the animals because most of them were sleeping because it was so hot. But its okay. We still had a great time. Me and Hna. Scott went together and were by ourselves at first because we could take the bus to the zoo. We had so much fun. then Hna. Jaeger, Beltran, Allen, and Tippets came a little while later and then we really had some fun. I love these girls, we still were missionaries of course and people wondered what we were:) I love when people ask us that question. and we decided we would do a little language study in the zoo so we spoke Spanish a lot and its s funny to see everyone's faces when we start speaking Spanish to them and each other. haha Its a great conversations starter let me tell you. Normally I don't ever get dehydrated when we are working cause members and random people  constantly offer us water and I have a full water bottle with me at all times on my bike. But I was so excited about the zoo that i just forgot.... I wont do that again.

Lesson 2. I always have to be doing something! I don't know what I will do when I go home. I feel like I might get bored really easily. Hna. Scott got sick so we had to stay in for two days and let me tell you. I studied so much, organized and cleaned, cooked more then I have in my entire life...... I was dying. I called members and talked to them. Good thing was I made alot of set appointments:D haha I was laughing at myself at how much I just wanted to be out teaching and doing something. Luckily Hna. Scott is all better now and we will be out and ready to go so I can put all my energy and focus were it needs to be.

Lesson 3. I love making people happy:) I decided that while I am on my mission if there is a missionary with a birthday it will be celebrated and I will try and make them happy. So hna. Vargases birthday was this week and we had so much fun. We all went out to dinner and then for Zone meeting me and Hna. Scott made her a cake. we wanted to her to do Mordita but it really didn't work cause she picked a peace of cake with only a little bit of frosting. but its okay. She loved it and it was so much fun and the cake looked so good too. haha we went all out on the cake during weekly planning. I love my comp for having fun with me too:)

Lesson 4. Faith, I love studying faith, I know I have talked about it before but it just keeps getting better and better. I realized that I definitely need more everyday. One day when we finally went out we didn't have a lot of time so I said a prayer that we could make the most of the time we had, I felt the prompting to go a different way then we usually do to an appointment and something told me to talk to literally everyone.... so I did, a couple people were not interested and in a rush but we did find two people who we will visit this week that were really interested and excited for us to come by. It was super cool to know that Heavenly Father when we have faith in him will guide us to where we need to go. I pray everyday for more faith so that I can do anything that the Lord asks of me to do, to have the strength and confidence to do it. I know that our heavenly father loves us and when we put our faith in him and put that faith into action, we will make miracles happen.

This week Marcia received the Holy Ghost and it was amazing:) the spirit was so strong. I love her so much! she also came to an activity with the JAS (Jovenes Adultos Sulteros) or YSA. She was a little shy but she loves feeling the spirit so she liked it. She is so cute and I love her so much.

I am so excited for this week of Miracles. I love my Heavenly Father for all that he does for me. I love this work and I love all that I get to participate in it:)

Love you all,
