Jenessa Week 13- Short and Sweet

Hello Everybody-

Ok....so this week was kind of a bummer week. I don't really have a whole lot to report on. I have been suffering from some migraines and some back pain and so we haven't been able to go out and do much. I am seeing a chiropractor and starting my yoga back up, because i was dumb and slacked off on that... thinking it wouldn't be a big deal...umm....yes it is a big deal for me!

Anyways....that should all be resolved this next week. It was kind of a bummer week because we had to drop a bunch of our investigators. The one family that was the hardest was Harold and Christine....i love them so much, but they are incredibly non-commital, even though they say that they want to come to church and they believe that it is true. We talked with them about our purpose as missionaries and they understood why we would not be coming back for a while, or until they called us. They promised they would call after Harold gets a bit better after his knee surgery, which is this week. So we will see. :/ It was good though. Hopefully they will call us or just come to church like they seem to really want to do.

Sister Orton and I have set goals for this week, and the transfer, to work better with members....both active and less active. We have almost 700 members on our roster and only about 150 of them come to church and are active....how sad!! If everyone on our roster came to church we would almost have an entire Stake...haha!  We also want the members to start feeling the excitement and the spirit of missionary work, because this work is so much more effective when the finding is done through the members and teaching is done through the missionaries!!!

Nothing super exciting happened this week. We are doing great here in the Normandy area. Working as hard as we can, besides the mirgraines....and LOVING the work! I love being a missionary with all of my heart!! Oh my goodness!

Oh...i do want to share with you our new Mission Motto, President Craig just changed it. :-) We recite it every morning in our companionship study and then at Zone meetings and such. Its wonderful.

3 Nephi 5:13: Behold, I {Sister Heckel} am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among this people that they might have everlasting life.
Doctrine and Covenants Section 4: Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men. Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve Him with all your heart might mind and strength. That ye may stand blameless before God at the last day. Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work. For behold, the field is white all ready to harvest and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might; the same layeth up in store, that he perisheth not but bringeth salvation to his soul. And faith, hope, charity, and love with an eye single to the glory of God qualify him for the work. Remember, faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence. Ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you Amen.
The Standard of Truth has been erected. No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing. Persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent. Till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear. Till the purposes of God shall be accomplished and the great Jehovah shall say the work is done.
I love tough things
I am the first to do tough things
I do tough things first
I love being a missionary!

Take a bite out of that one!! Woohoo!! Its a long one, but it is so great! (Please ignore all the puncutation errors...i did it from memory...haha!) Anyways.... I love reciting it everyday and really letting the words sink deep into my heart. I really truly LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!! :-)
Hope you all have a great week! I need to go now! :-)

Hope you enjoyed this (fairly) short and sweet email!

Love
Sister Heckel
